A restaurant in a western Hungarian town had spent months looking for experienced kitchen professionals, while growing guest numbers put ever more pressure on the kitchen. The solution came through two skilled Filipino chefs — who, in a short time, confidently mastered the dishes of Hungarian cuisine as well.

The shortage of seasoned cooks has been a nationwide problem in hospitality for years, and our client — a restaurant in a western Hungarian town — had been struggling with it for months. Alongside growing guest numbers and recurring events, the local labour market simply did not offer enough applicants for the kitchen, and some of those hired moved on within a short time. The constant need to backfill fell on the head chef and the existing team, putting both daily operations and the quality of the food at risk.

The answer came in the form of two skilled Filipino chefs, each with several years of kitchen experience. Beyond professional competence and kitchen routine, the selection prioritised reliability and long-term commitment — we looked for professionals who can also meet the demands of a busy restaurant kitchen. From candidate selection through to arranging travel and accommodation, we handled the entire process, including all official administration, so the restaurant could focus solely on its professional work.

Although the two chefs had gained their experience primarily in international and Asian cuisine, they quickly tuned into Hungarian dishes as well. The restaurant’s head chef gradually introduced them to the local classics — goulash, pörkölt and stuffed cabbage — and, building on their existing professional skills, within a short time they were preparing the menu’s signature dishes on their own. Returning guests were pleased to find that the familiar, authentic Hungarian flavours arrived at the table at an unchanged standard — and several regulars came to genuinely prefer the classic Hungarian dishes as made by the two chefs.

Today the two chefs are a defining part of the kitchen’s everyday work, and their repertoire keeps expanding with further dishes on the menu. Depending on how things develop, the restaurant plans to further expand its kitchen team and broaden its offering. For our client, what matters is that the kitchen once again runs predictably, at its usual standard — and we provide the full background throughout, from selection to administration.
