With orders growing, a Hungarian metalworking plant could not find enough experienced welders in Hungary. The solution was six certified specialists from India.

Certified welders are among the most sought-after, and hardest to replace, tradespeople in Hungarian industry today. Our client, a Hungarian metalworking plant, had a growing order book but for months could not find enough experienced welders: competition for local specialists is fierce, and semi-skilled workers are not suited to high-quality welding work. The staff shortage was making it hard not only to meet deadlines but also to take on new orders.

During the needs assessment we set out precisely the welding processes and certifications required, the expectations for reading drawings and knowledge of materials, and the physical demands of the job. We based the search on India, which has a strong foundation in metalworking and welding training and a large pool of practised specialists with international experience. After professional screening, a practical test and video interviews, we selected six experienced welders whose skills matched the plant’s specific tasks.

Once the selection was made, we handled the entire immigration procedure for the residence permit for the purpose of employment, and coordinated travel, accommodation and the paperwork for starting work. We added a short on-site induction so that the welders could adjust quickly to the plant’s own technology and quality standards, which meant the team became productive as fast as possible.

Within a few weeks the six welders had reached the quality level the plant required and become a stable part of production. As a result, the plant could not only meet its existing deadlines but also had the confidence to take on new orders, relying on predictable, skilled welding capacity. Instead of endless, fruitless recruitment, it now plans ahead with a proven team.
