For months, a Hungarian international haulage company could not find reliable C+E category drivers. The solution was experienced Indian truck drivers, whose entire licence recognition and permit process we managed all the way to the driver’s seat.
Our client, a Hungarian company in international road haulage, was finding it ever harder to keep its trucks on the road. The shortage of experienced C+E category drivers is affecting the whole of Europe, and on the Hungarian market it is almost impossible to find reliable candidates committed for the long term. Idle vehicles meant a direct loss of revenue, while the extra load on existing drivers further increased the risk of staff turnover.
The solution was truck drivers from India, one of the largest source markets for drivers with international experience. In selecting candidates we looked not only at driving experience and physical fitness but also at long-term commitment: after professional screening, a driving skills check and background checks, we put together a team of eight drivers. Employing drivers is, however, far more complex than employing factory workers. Alongside the work and residence permits, we had to see through the recognition of their driving licences, the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC, known in Hungary as GKI) and, as is mandatory for drivers from non-EU countries, the driver attestation.
We coordinated this multi-strand process from start to finish, from permits and licence recognition through to travel and starting work, so that the client could focus on organising freight rather than dealing with the authorities. The eight drivers were on the road within a few months, and they have been working reliably, with long-term plans, ever since. The haulier now runs a fully utilised fleet with predictable capacity, free from idle trucks and the constant search for drivers.
