Ahead of the peak season, a Budapest hotel could not find reliable housekeeping staff — constant turnover was taking its toll on the guest experience. The solution came in the form of five experienced hotel workers from the Philippines.

In the hotel industry, housekeeping is one of the hardest areas to staff: the work is physically demanding and requires precision, yet the Hungarian labour market faces a persistent shortage and high turnover. Our client, a Budapest hotel, found itself in a tight spot just before the approaching peak season — constant staff changes meant that the pace and standard of room cleaning fluctuated, which showed up directly in guest reviews. The hotel did not need casual helpers; it needed a stable, reliable team that could maintain standards even at the height of the season.

During the needs assessment we set out the requirements — hotel or hospitality experience, precision, basic English and a long-term commitment — and built our candidate pool in the Philippines, which has a strong, export-ready professional culture in hospitality and hotels. Filipino workers’ service mindset, team spirit and English skills are a particularly good fit for hotels serving an international clientele. Following professional screening, video interviews and background checks, we selected five experienced workers who arrived together as a team — so they could also rely on one another during the most challenging first weeks of settling in.

After the selection, we handled the entire permit and immigration procedure and coordinated travel, accommodation and post-arrival paperwork, so that the hotel could concentrate on its operations and on welcoming guests. The new team settled in within a few weeks and was working at full speed by the peak season: room turnaround times became predictable, cleaning standards stabilised and guest reviews improved noticeably. Today the hotel starts every season with a committed, well-coordinated housekeeping team — without the burden of constant re-recruitment.
